Is The New British Data Protection Bill Repeating Thatcherite Policy?
As Great Britain is preparing many, many things for their eminent Brexit from the EU, the British government’s Data Protection Bill, which is supposed to keep Britain in line with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation has civil liberty groups in an outrage at what some call an attempt to undermine millions of people’s privacy. When it is debated next week, Liberty, the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI), and the Race Equality Foundation, are all calling for the House of Lords to remove certain exemptions the UK has included in the bill.
